    DESICCANT TEST

Have you noticed that liquid condensate entering your compressed air system?
Your desiccant may need attention – let’s check its performance now!

Desiccant plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and purity of compressed air by removing moisture and contaminants.

Proper preventative maintenance, including timely desiccant performance test and replacement, is essential to identify when desiccant needs to be replaced, to prevent costly and unexpected downtime and help preserve your equipment’s optimal performance.

Generally, desiccant life should last three years -under normal operating conditions,  and up to five years if energy management system is installed. However, based on how the equipment is operated, desiccant can become saturated or degraded, leading to reduced efficiency and potential system issues. Incoming contaminants, mainly oil, will impact the desiccant‘s ability to adsorb vaporous form moisture and can cut the working life of desiccant in half.

By monitoring desiccant functionality, extended equipment life and peak performance is guaranteed, and helps prevent corrosion and wear.

The activated alumina has a shelf life of 3 years from date of manufacture, assuming the following storage guidelines are adhered to:

*The material is stored in its original packaging in a dry environment, and covered storage protected from the ambient environment.

*The material is protected from direct exposure to sunlight and rain (prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may degrade the packaging).

*The material is not subjected to excessive temperatures (in excess of 450⁰F, 230⁰C) while in storage.

*The material is stored elevated off the ground to ensure that there is no exposure to liquid water.

*The desiccant will require a complete thermal regeneration cycle before full activity is restored.
